Joel F. Schock MD
- Dr. Schock's has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years.
Dr. Schock was born and raised in Ashley, ND. He attended UND from 1974 to 1982 where he received his BS and MD degrees. After completing residency in Family Medicine at the UND Family Practice Center in Fargo, ND, he practiced medicine at two successive multispecialty clinics in Fargo until 2002, when he and his current practice partner started Plains Medical Clinic. During those years he practiced both the full spectrum of Family medicine, ER medicine and immediate care. He has since developed strong interests in preventative medicine, nutrition, restorative medicine and stem cell research, as well as pharmaceutical and immunization research.
Dr. Schock maintains medical licenses in both North Dakota and Minnesota. He is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical examiners and maintains certification with the American Board of Family Practice. He also serves as a board member of the Heartland Healthcare Network, and has served as a past chairman of the Dakota Hospital Ethics Committee, past medical director of Odyssey Hospice of Fargo, and past medical director of Manor Care Nursing Home. He is an associate medical professor with the UND School of Medicine and has been actively teaching a number of medical, PA, and NP students throughout the years.
Dr. Schock currently resides south of Fargo with his wife, Jane. During time off he enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, boating and caring for their horses, cats and dogs.
